Favorite Poem of the Week

Poems can be taking in many different forms. For example, it would be a written poem, or a song lyric or a quote. With that being said, today we have a quote from Senior Maria Ramirez. The quote is from the novel To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, where Maria first came about it in the eighth grade. This quote stood out to Maria because the message behind it has made her view on people change. This has inspired Maria to not be very judgmental because you never know what a person is going through. After reading this poem, Maria would like you all to take away the meaning of empathy. You should think about how you reflect on life and how others go about life. Since we all are different we go about things in a different way, meaning we should not be quick to judge others on how they handle things. Before you try to judge someone, you should try to put yourself in their shoes and see why they did what they did, because you never know what they are going through. It does not hurt to think before you act, nor try to understand another person’s point of view. Try to see how a person is really feeling before you interact with them.
