Artist of the Week: A Boogie Wit da Hoodie

A Boogie Wit da Hoodie hails from the Bronx and began releasing music in 2016 with a unique version of trap rap. He mixes an R&B type flow with lyrics about the streets of New York. He founded his own label “Highbridge the label” with fellow rapper Quincy “QP” Acheampong after returning from Florida to New York in 2015. His debut mixtape”Artist” was released in 2016 and quickly was successful reaching the Billboard Top 100 at one point. It contained platinum song “Jungle”. After signing with Atlantic, he released the song “Drowning” which became a triple-platinum song. In the start of 2017, Boogie was apart of the XXL’s freshmen class. He then released his first album which featured artists such as Trey Songz, Kodak Black, Chris Brown, and Robin Thicke. In June he released his 2nd EP “International Artist” which featured artists J Alvarez, Jessie Reyez and more. His 2nd album “Hoodie SZN” was released in November.
