Athlete of the Week
If you’re living on this earth, you most likely know who LeBron James is unless you are too young to understand or haven’t been exposed to outside life much. He was a kid that grew up in Akron, Ohio not too far from Cleveland. Born on December 30th, 1984, James grew up having a troubling childhood. Growing up, he did not have a father because his father abandoned him. His dad was an ex-convict who left them out to dry. James went to St. Vincent-St. Mary high school and here he instantly became a talked about a person due to his basketball skills. After 4 years of high school, most basketball players would attend college to pursue their basketball career. James decided that was not for him and went to play basketball in the NBA. LeBron was picked number one in the 2003 NBA draft. He did not fail to impress and he lived up to the hype that was brought upon him. Now as a 34-year-old man, James will go down as one of the greatest of all time. Besides his basketball career, James as a person will never be forgotten. He grew up impoverished and no father figure, just him and his mother. He made sacrifices and was determined to make a better life for his mother. He’s been with his wife since high school and always put his family first. He had strong morals and is obviously a person that many people can look up to as a role model. James has helped so many young and old people. He brought a ring to Cleveland their first one ever and fulfilled his promise. He’s brought families together and gave people hope. He’s even opened up I Promise school for kids who are unfortunate and need a good education. Their motto is “nothing is given, everything is earned”. James legacy will never be forgotten and the day he retires will be a day to remember.
