- How do I force myself to do my homework?
It is important that you remember no tips will help you unless you’re ready to commit to actually following through. If you go at your academics with only minimal effort then that is what you will get in return, you will get out what you put in. With that said personally it has always been helpful to set little goals for myself and then give myself rewards as I complete my goals. With that it is easy to just give up and ignore your responsibilities, focusing on homework can be especially hard when you do not enjoy what you are working on. To help motivate yourself it is crucial to be in an environment where you can be focused without distractions especially without your phone or TV.
- How do I not procrastinate even when I’m given extra time for an assignment?
Again at the end of the day if you are not motivated to be successful in school then you will not be able to push yourself through times of procrastination. If you are given extra time to work on an assignment you must make a plan for yourself and stick to it. It is important to split up the work into different parts in order to make the assignment less time consuming. After you split up the assignment decide how much you need to do per day and try not to space it out too much because you could end up procrastinating.
- How do I balance homework and my work outside of school?
If you have time before work I would advise you to not put off your homework till the last minute, use your study hall and resource. Take advantage of any time you have for example try to do homework in the car on the way to or from work and then do homework as soon as you get home. If you put off your homework until even later in the night, then you will be less likely to complete your homework and do it efficiently.
- How do I focus on studying, how do I study?
If you are studying for a test, you need to find a quiet place where you can efficiently study without distractions. You should leave your phone in another room if possible, if you can’t then set a timer on your phone for 20 minutes and study for the time being until the timer goes off. Then you can spend 5- 8 minutes doing something active so that you can get your mind off of just sitting and studying. Then continue studying again, this way you can get things done and be efficient while still getting exercise in and being active.
