  1. How do I work on being confident in myself every day?

Loving yourself is a daily battle that you have to be committed too or else you will not be able to accept yourself everyday. The definition of self love is the “regard for one’s own well-being and happiness (chiefly considered as a desirable rather than narcissistic characteristic)”. The journey to loving oneself is not easy nor is it a quick journey, it takes a lot of time and patience. Try to practice speaking kindly to yourself and treat yourself how you would treat another person. Telling yourself you are stupid, ugly, or any other negative names is extremely damaging to your self esteem and it is important to catch yourself when you do make those comments. Practicing self care is a large portion of the journey, being mindful of how you treat yourself and checking in on yourself is essential in order to accept yourself.

2. How do I find time to exercise?

It is common that people say they do not have time for exercise which is why they do not participate in it. Yet in general one can always find time for things they value, if you truly care about exercising you will find a way to do it. Exercising does not have to mean that you are going to the gym for two hours and lifting weights, exercise can look different for each person. One can get exercise in a variety of ways for example; taking the stairs instead of an elevator or instead of sitting and watching netflix for hours go outside for a walk. Doing simple things to get yourself moving more often will help you over time to stay healthy and in good shape.

3.  How do I stay positive when things are going badly?

Remaining positive even in negative situations is a difficult task that takes practice and a lot of patience along with motivation. It is important to remember that not all negative situations need to be seen as something that you do not want to experience. It is important to embrace the negatives that you encounter and to learn from them and grow through them. By reminding yourself that you can only control so much will be beneficial in decreasing your stress, it is important to focus on what you personally can control because you cannot control others. When you are faced with a negative experience it is important to ask for help and reach out to a trusted person so that you can receive some outside support.

4. How do I cope with being overwhelmed?

When you are going through an overwhelming time it is important to find ways to ground yourself. Grounding techniques are extremely useful especially in highly overwhelming situations because it helps to keep you from getting caught up in your stress. There are many helpful grounding techniques that are thoroughly explained and can be used in a variety of situations.
